Get ready for school!

Here are ten things to do as you get ready for the first day of school on August 30.

• Review the school calendar – Review the school calendar before the first day of school on Wednesday, August 30. See other important dates here like open house and check-in dates. If you need a copy of the calendar please pick one up at the Quincy School District Office – 119 J St SW Quincy, WA.
• Read the new Resource Guide for New and Returning Families – Our new resource guide is packed with information for both new and returning families. It contains valuable information from school schedules to safety information. We hope the resource guide is something that you will use year-round. The guide is available in schools, the district office, and online.
• Make sure your child's Chromebook is ready – Have your child bring their fully charged Chromebook with them on the first day of school.
• Update your contact information – Make sure we can contact you in an emergency and with other important information. Please update your home address, phone number, email address, emergency contact, and student health information. This information is critical to keeping your student safe at school. Please log in to your Skyward account or contact your child's school to update your contact information.
• Review important meal changes – Due to House Bill 1878, school meals are available to all students at no cost again this year. We will no longer be collecting the Free and Reduced-Priced meal applications; however, some families will be asked to complete an income survey to access other discounts and benefits as income data affects future school funding. This survey will be mailed to select families.
• Make sure your student has school supplies – Just a reminder, students in grades K-5 only need to bring a backpack on their first day of school, the Quincy School District will provide school supplies for them. Secondary students (grades 6-12) will need to visit their school website or contact their school for a list of supplies.
• Follow us on social media – Stay connected with us on social media and Remind. Our platforms are a great way to get updates, see what's happening in our classrooms, and celebrate the achievements of our amazing students. Don’t forget to tag us on the first day of school using the hashtag #JacksAreBack!
• Familiarize yourself with bus information – For those of you who are riding the school bus or have students who will be riding the bus, take some time to familiarize yourself with the bus number, route, and pick-up/drop-off times. We want to ensure a safe and efficient ride for everyone. You can also review bus routes here.
• Make sure your child gets to school on time – Review your child’s school start and end times here. 
• Think about getting involved – Think about getting involved in our school community. Whether it's through parent advisory committees, volunteering, or supporting our events, your participation makes a powerful difference in our students' lives. Call your school to see how you can get involved!

QSD 23-24 Academic Calendar

Parent/guardian of incoming kindergartners:

We are excited to welcome your new kindergarten student to our schools in August. To ensure a smooth transition, Quincy elementary schools have implemented a slower start for the first five days of school specifically designed for incoming kindergartners. During this time, teachers will support new students in smaller groups, easing any anxiety, fostering familiarity, and teaching them classroom and school routines. We will also schedule individual conferences with each kindergarten student and their parent/guardian to provide personalized attention and share more information once school offices reopen.

We are eagerly looking forward to the upcoming school year.

Estamos emocionados de darle la bienvenida a su nuevo estudiante de kindergarten a nuestras escuelas en Agosto. Para asegurar una transición suave, las escuelas primarias de Quincy han implementado un comienzo despacio para los primeros cinco días de escuela específicamente diseñado para los estudiantes entrantes de kindergarten. Durante este tiempo, los maestros apoyarán a los nuevos estudiantes en grupos más pequeños, aliviando cualquier ansiedad, fomentando la familiaridad y enseñándoles las rutinas del salón de clases y de la escuela. • Quincy High School - Supplies will be specific to class, however students and families are encouraged to attend Jacks Days at QHS.
