Student Walkout Occurs at Quincy High School 
 
Quincy, WA — On January 30, 2026, a student-organized walkout took place at Quincy High School as part of a national protest effort. The event was not sponsored by Quincy High School or Quincy School District.  
 
On Thursday, the district received confirmation of the planned walkout and notified Quincy High School staff and families to ensure they were informed of the situation and the district’s response. Quincy School District is committed to maintaining a safe and productive learning environment for all students. Approximately 100 Quincy High School students participated in the walkout.  
 
During the walkout: 
  • Instruction continued as scheduled, and teachers took attendance in each class. 
  • Students who left class or campus during instructional time were marked as absent in accordance with the district’s attendance policy and may be subject to disciplinary action, as outlined in school guidelines. 
  • Staff were present to monitor and ensure student safety. 
The district recognizes that students may have strong opinions on a variety of issues, and they have the First Amendment right to express themselves in ways that are respectful and do not disrupt learning. 
 
“I want to reiterate that this was not a Quincy High School or Quincy School District-sponsored event. No school or district resources were used in support of this student-led event. Our role was to ensure that all students remained safe and learning continued throughout the school day,” said Superintendent Dr. Nik Bergman.

Se lleva a cabo una protesta estudiantil (walkout) en Quincy High School
 
Quincy, WA — El 30 de enero de 2026, se realizó una protesta estudiantil organizada por los propios estudiantes en Quincy High School, como parte de un esfuerzo de protesta a nivel nacional. Este evento no fue patrocinado por Quincy High School ni por el Distrito Escolar de Quincy.
 
El jueves, el distrito recibió confirmación sobre la protesta planificada y notificó al personal de Quincy High School y a las familias para asegurarse de que estuvieran informados sobre la situación y la respuesta del distrito. El Distrito Escolar de Quincy está comprometido a mantener un ambiente de aprendizaje seguro y productivo para todos los estudiantes. Aproximadamente 100 estudiantes de Quincy High School participaron en la protesta.
Durante la protesta:
  • Las clases continuaron según lo programado y los maestros tomaron asistencia en cada salón de clases.
  • Los estudiantes que salieron del salón o de la escuela durante el horario de clases fueron marcados como ausentes, de acuerdo con la política de asistencia del distrito, y podrían estar sujetos a medidas disciplinarias, según las normas escolares.
  • El personal estuvo presente para supervisar y garantizar la seguridad de los estudiantes.
El distrito reconoce que los estudiantes pueden tener opiniones firmes sobre distintos temas, y que tienen el derecho, bajo la Primera Enmienda, de expresarse de manera respetuosa y sin interrumpir el aprendizaje.
 
“Quiero reiterar que este no fue un evento patrocinado por Quincy High School ni por el Distrito Escolar de Quincy. No se utilizaron recursos escolares ni del distrito para apoyar este evento dirigido por estudiantes. Nuestro papel fue asegurar que todos los estudiantes permanecieran seguros y que el aprendizaje continuara durante toda la jornada escolar,” señaló el Superintendente Dr. Nik Bergman.
