Attendance Notifications through ParentSquare

Attendance Notifications through ParentSquare

Beginning October 2, Quincy School District will use ParentSquare to send attendance notifications to families. These notifications will replace the attendance messages previously sent through SchoolMessenger.

Every school day matters.

Missing just two days of school each month can add up to 18 days—the equivalent of 10% of the school year. When students miss 10% or more of the school year, they are considered chronically absent.

Research shows that chronic absence can affect a student’s ability to read proficiently by third grade, succeed in middle school and graduate from high school. Students also miss important opportunities to build relationships and develop problem-solving, self-regulation and other skills that support their growth.

ParentSquare Attendance Features

ParentSquare gives our schools and families another tool to stay connected, respond to absences quickly, and help students attend school consistently.

Through ParentSquare, families will be able to:

  • Receive a notification around 5 pm each day when their student is marked absent or tardy.
  • Submit a note explaining an absence directly from the notification
  • Attach supporting documents when needed.
  • Report an upcoming absence before their student misses school through the ParentSquare App.

Families may receive attendance notifications by text, email, phone call, or the ParentSquare app, depending on their notification settings. Messages may include a link that allows families to review the attendance notice and provide additional information.

Please remember that submitting an absence report or note does not automatically excuse the absence. School staff will review the information and follow district attendance policies and procedures.

No action is required to begin receiving attendance notifications. Please make sure your contact information is current in Skyward so you do not miss important messages.

Thank you for partnering with us to support regular attendance and student success. Every school day matters!

You Can Still Call Your School Office

Using ParentSquare to submit an absence note or report an upcoming absence is optional. Families may still call their school office directly to report an absence or discuss attendance concerns
