Colleen Frerks named Whole Child Director and QIA Principal
QUINCY, WA - The Quincy School District is excited to announce that Colleen Frerks has been selected as the Whole Child Director/Quincy Innovation Academy Principal. Ms. Frerks is replacing Kathleen Brown who will be retiring at the end of this school year. Colleen has been with the Quincy School District for 12 years and most recently served as Principal of Ancient Lakes Elementary. She previously served as principal of Mountain View Elementary and George Elementary. In addition to those positions, she served as Principal on Special Assignment for the District from 2018-2019. Before coming to Quincy, Ms. Frerks was a middle school and elementary teacher for the Cheney School District.
Ms. Frerks attended Central Washington University and holds a master’s degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Supervision from Gonzaga University. She also received her Residency Administrator Principal Certificate from Eastern Washington University and her Principal Professional Certificate from Northeast WA ESD 101 in Spokane.
As Principal, Colleen initiated foundational systems to open Ancient Lakes Elementary in 2019. She also developed a culture of distributed leadership that resulted in high staff collective efficacy leading to positive student outcomes. Additionally, Colleen facilitated the district health and safety team as she navigated COVID-19 guidelines for school reopening and ongoing operations. In 2021, Ms. Frerks was honored as District Leader of the Year.
Colleen is a graduate of Quincy High School. She and her family live in Quincy. In her free time she enjoys singing with community music groups, reading, and watching her sons play on our QHS Jackrabbit football, basketball, and baseball teams.
