Quincy School Board recognized for governing excellence

QUINCY, WA, November 2, 2021 - The Quincy School Board has been selected as a 2021 WSSDA Board of Distinction for presenting exemplary evidence of ongoing professional development, addressing opportunity gaps during the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically increased graduation rates and internet connectivity rates, and practicing governance that reflects the Washington School Board Standards during the 2020-21 school year.

Applications are reviewed by a panel of judges,  including former and current educational service district superintendents, State Board of  Education board members, former school directors, and other education leaders in Washington state. Scoring is based on how well applicants show alignment with the Washington School Board Standards, support their statements with data, and demonstrate a link between outcomes and decisions made by the board.

“I am so thrilled that our school board directors are receiving this honor again.  School Board Directors volunteer countless hours to provide oversight, leadership and input to ensure that our students get what they need to achieve Quincy’s Promise.  These are phenomenal people doing great things for kids and I am honored and proud to serve with them.” Congratulations again for this well-deserved honor!” said Superintendent John Boyd.

This is the board's sixth Board of Distinction award in the last six years. The Boards of Distinction from across the state will be honored at the Washington State School Directors Association’s (WSSDA’s) 2021 Annual Conference during the awards ceremony on Friday, November 19, 2021.
