Reading Everyday is one of the best ways for your child to keep up skills in all subjects!

boy-reading.jpg

  •  Set aside time each day to read with your child. You could enjoy favorite books from your bookshelves and also download free e-books from the public library. Encourage him to choose a variety-fiction, non-fiction, poetry, biographies, how-to-books, and more. Let her pick books she can read on her own as well as challenging ones you can read to her. If you read in Spanish that is great! Hearing stories in English or Spanish will help your child with their reading skills.
  • Together, watch authors, teachers and librarians read stories aloud online. Try storylineonline.net or search You Tube for "read alouds." Then, suggest your child make her own story time videos-complete with props and puppets. Socks make great puppets.
